Dream Catcher
Across your dream catcher
Lies stillness
Loud silence
My cheek sticks to its cool webs
And frees the warmth from my face
Only these webs can pacify me
I’m sorry to admit
This truth
Across your dream catcher is where I want to stay
Every part within this braided rope-this circle
Is my home
Even its holes
This moment is a coin:
One side of the door
Houses the face of this dream catcher-
Comfort
The other side houses people-
Chaos mingling
I settle in for only a few seconds more
My exhale lengthens
This part of breath is like a blanket
Draped over a child-
A fitted calm
On restless nights
Before the dream catcher
There was just Dad
Weaving my crying breath into a sleeping breath
I hold my inhale
Feeling a pause from life
But I need to breathe again
So comes my next exhale
Across your dream catcher
I feel stillness
Against my cheek
This stillness-
Your skin
This dream catcher-
Your tattoo
This loud silence-
Your body
Without breath
Across your dream catcher is where I want to stay
Every part within this braided rope-this circle
Has been my home
