Guidelines
Soul-Lit welcomes your submissions of spiritual poetry. (For an indication of what we mean by the term, please see our Spiritual Poetry section).
- Previously published work, the rights to which are owned by the poet, are welcome.
- Work that seeks to proselytize or to promote a particular spirituality or approach over another won’t be considered.
- “Devotionals” (unless you’re John Donne or George Herbert) are not accepted, and although formal meter and rhyme are not precluded, “the bouncing rhymies” truly are.
- We welcome up to four poems per submission.
- We accept only electronic submissions. Please submit poems along with a short bio (four lines, max) of the poet as a Word document in twelve-point, Times New Roman font. Please include name, email, and bio in the attachment with poems.
- Please include in your email to us your PGP (Preferred Gender Pronoun).
- Submit work to peacechaplain@aol.com.
- Feature poets by invitation only.
If your work is accepted for publication, we’ll notify you by email. Soul-Lit is a labor of love. Our team all have jobs and involved lives. We respond to submissions as soon as we can; please do not send inquiries as to the status of your submission. Likewise, we publish three times a year, a Spring, Summer, and Fall/Winter Edition. Beyond those parameters, we have no set times for publication. Please do not email asking about publication dates.
